Guest: Judy Goss and Christine Oleynick from Over 40 Females.
Over 40 Females was founded in January 2010 by Judy Goss, a former editor at More magazine and a national TV spokesperson for More who traveled around the country meeting hundreds of women over the age of 40 who wanted to be heard and celebrated. Judy’s background is in the TV and fashion industries, and she created Over 40 Females to give women a platform to be heard, to network and to encourage, with the motto “Connect, Encourage and Inspire.” Since the fall of 2011, multiple chapters have been established nationwide to represent women everywhere who are joining this rapidly expanding group.
Christine Oleynick is the director of the Fairfield County Chapter of Over 40 Females. As director, she works to connect women through entertaining and informative events meant to educate and inspire. Working together, these women are given the opportunity to reinvent and discover their passions and swap resources in a supportive and nurturing environment.
Guest: Dr. Guy Winch, PhD, author of Emotional First Aid.
Guy Winch, PhD, is a licensed psychologist, keynote speaker, and author whose books have already been translated into seven languages. His most recent book Emotional First Aid: Practical Strategies for Treating Failure, Rejection, Guilt and Other Everday Psychological Injuries was published in July 2013.
Although we have bandages for cuts, chicken soup for colds, and ice packs for bruises, most of us have no idea how to treat day-to-day emotional injuries such as failure, rejection, and loss. These kinds of emotional injuries often get worse when left untreated and can significantly impact our quality of life. In his book, Dr. Winch offers concrete, easy-to-use exercises backed up by hard cutting-edge science to aid in recovery. He uses relatable anecdotes about real patients he has treated over the years and often gives us a much needed dose of humor as well.
