Dr. Ebony Utley is an expert in popular culture, race, and romantic relationships. In her other research, Dr. Utley examines how Americans talk about race and racism, ask probing questions about women’s experiences with infidelity, investigates beliefs about marriage, and explores the tenuous relationship between hip hop and love.

Stephanie Coontz teaches history and familly studies at the Evergreen State College in Olympia, WA. She also serves as a co-chair and Director of Public Education at the Council on Contemporary Families, a non-profit, non-partisan association of family researchers and practitioners based at the University of Illinois at Chicago.
Her work has been featured in many newspapers such as The New York Times, as well as scholarly journals such as the Journal of Marriage and Family, and she is frequently interviewed on national television and radio.
